Essay Topic: HAMLET (THE MADMAN?)

The thought of Hamlet being crazy throughout the course of the play as he produces unthinkable actions is imagined frequently when the reader presses on. This however can’t be more of a misinterpreted held view for evident reasons such as the intelligence Hamlet shows with his so heavily thought madness, let alone the unbearable stress he’s anguished with, to contemplate the murder of his uncle. Throughout life and the prowess of a young genius, the evidence to support my view point is pervasive.
Obviously Hamlets a mastermind in disguise for the most part, even though some can argue that at certain points he shows extraordinary signs of insanity. Especially when he speaks to other characters or rapidly stabs into a tapestry accidentally killing Polonius; however the so called madness in his dialogue is to lower the guard of his prime target King Claudius which is pretty intelligent for a troubled youth. The argument that he is crazy for killing Polonius is also mistaken considering that it was an assumption that King Claudius was listening in on him and his mother which he had all the intentions in the world after the play within the play to murder. Hamlet may have been a little quick with the sword but doesn't explain how he can possibly be caught in vortex madness.
The stress Hamlet is under is so massive that it’s understandable that he could be assumed to be crazy but in the end stress is stress not insanity. Life is stressful no matter what situation is presented and should not be viewed as the root of insanity. My life right now is stressful from the simple things at home and school all the way up to college applications and family drama which I’m sure at times I let it take the best of me but I never lose my sanity from it. Hamlets stress can’t possibly be used to justify that he is crazy because if that is true then it would basically being saying that the entire world we as humanity encompass are the embodiment of insanity.

Clearly these examples provide enough clarity to reveal Hamlet to be a genius in disguise with the same stress that everyone within the humanity must take head on thus disregarding the question of his sanity. If the question of sanity was so lightly thrust upon anyone I’m positive they too would be considered insane such as hamlet but if you take the time to look at the facts it would be regarded to prove their innocence.
