Hamlet Essay

“What is a man, If his chief good and market of his time Be but to sleep and feed? a beast, no more. Sure he that made us with such large discourse, Looking before and after, gave us not That capability and god-like reason To fust in us unused.” Spoken by Hamlet, in the play “Hamlet” distinctly explains ones of the numerous messages within play through the idea that if your idle just as a beast then you lose the rights to your own humanity or purpose. Throughout this play and society my viewpoint is accurately pervasive.
The play itself has various scenes in which it precisely backs up this theme, take for example the men going to war over a plot of land with absolutely no significant value, but out of necessity to prove they are worth more than the common drivel they go marching on to have a purpose to stand with. Hamlet also taunts himself numerous times in the play for sitting frivolously by heinous acts that he shouldn't stand for but continues to do so any way. In the end Hamlets constant attacks on his own honor pushed him to fight for his father and even a purpose in his own life. These acts have shown why no one can sit idle in their own life otherwise they’d be consumed for not having a purpose.
The issue of lacking purpose is more commonly seen in numerous cases among humanity mainly for are strong need to feel content with our own lives. Take a look at a typical hunter venturing out and hunting beasts for either sport or necessity if you took away his or her game what would make them a hunter because what is a hunter without the hunt. My own existence I have struggled to find meaning in this life we have each been bestowed with, it torments everyday but preserver on in hopes of finding something in the world to help me be content with my being. Humanity in general can’t sit and fester without purpose; we have a deep burning in our souls to push on for that reason.

This quote is sufficient enough to explain the tone of Hamlet but never the less the examples provided should clarify what it means to exist. The character hamlet proves this when he tormented himself in order to further his purpose and even in the society of humanity we produce purpose of our own design as we further the path of life.
